After eight years, Kim has released her highly anticipated third album, “Where Do We Go From Here”. After touring much of the Pacific Northwest with her first two albums, in 2003, Kim decided to move to Nashville to further pursue her career in music. Doors and opportunities opened for Kim as a song writer and she signed with Centricity Music in 2005 as their first staff writer. That began a four year journey which resulted in writing and co-writing a few hundred songs and meeting many established and talented songwriters in Christian, country and pop circles. Kim has had some of her songs recorded by independent artists, southern gospel artists, and landed a couple songs in print through Brentwood Benson. Two years ago, Kim completely lost her voice and had to have surgery on her vocal chords. It was then that a stirring inside of her began and she realized how much she had missed singing and sharing her songs with people. “I think it was in part, being faced with the inability to do something that makes you want to do it more, but also, there comes a point, especially when there is an artist in you who wants to express something… I realized I’d been sitting inside 4 walls creating songs that have the potential to really encourage someone and speak to them, yet they weren’t going anywhere, and just because they aren’t being recorded by a national act or on the radio, doesn’t mean they don’t have any place or merit. So, I figured, if I can’t get anyone else to sing these songs, then why don’t I sing them?” Thus began the beginning of making her third album “Where Do We Go From Here”.
“I had become friends with a co-writer, Brian Oaks, who moved here with his family from the same area I’m from outside of Seattle. He had this enormous passion and hunger for music as well as to make great music. In the short time he had lived in Nashville, he had made some great friends and contacts and expressed to me how he would love to produce an album for me. I felt like he really understood the sound and style I was going for…a faith-based album with a raw, yet edgier sound with some country influence.” It was an album that Kim says she always dreamed of doing, with some of the best and most highly respected musicians playing on it as well as one of her greatest musical influences, Christine Dente’ from Out of the Grey making a few guest appearances throughout the album. “In choosing songs for the record, I really wanted to pick the songs that I knew connected the most with people as well as the songs that I felt represented my heart and where I’ve been the past 8 years. I’m really proud of this record. I’m proud of Brian who produced it. He put his heart and soul into this thing.”
“Where Do We Go From Here” reflects the realness of life, the struggles of faith, and the sincerity of a heart who longs to live honestly and transparently.
